No. 4 If all the flowers were dinner plates and salt & pepper sets
Oh what a table it would be!
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
I’m imagining all the tabletop designers drooling over the current, glorious burst of hibiscus plants in Canada right now. August serves up these humongous & flamboyant blooms that make people stop suddenly in their tracks. You see. They give to us twice. Once ‘al fresco’ and twice, indoors all winter. Bonus points! Go Hibiscus!
I can’t stop looking at these blooms that have closed up for the night. Similar to our food coma behavior after a big turkey dinner, retiring to the garden sofa after two helpings of sunshine. ‘According to Live Science, Plants that tuck themselves in for bedtime exhibit a natural behavior known as nyctinasty.’
If the big, open flowers are like dinner plates, then the tucked in ones are ideal shapes for ceramic salt & pepper shakers. So cute. Can we bring back character S&P shakers please?
Every tabletop needs an element of whimsy; a conversation starter and fun! Why not hibiscus ones?
On the topic eating in the company of quirky condiment elements, why not finish your meal with a nourishing tea made with hibiscus flowers? I had no idea how many loose tea blends contain this flower. Remarkable. Beautiful and beneficial.
The hibiscus plant continues to be a mammoth motif adorning endless decorative products. From packaging to tablecloths. It seems to have devoured our hearts.
If all the flowers were dinner plates and salt & pepper sets,
Oh what a table it would be!
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
